I had a meeting last night with Dean Cameron, the director of Bukowsical!, and it reminded me of the rare occasions when I'd be working at a radio station, they'd change formats, and replace me as the morning show host.
As someone who casts actors from time to time, and sometimes have to recast if an actor fails to perform or someone better becomes available, I know how hard it is to break that kind of news to a friend, a fellow actor and someone who's worked hard for me.
Dean had to do that yesterday. He let me know that I'm not going to be continuing in the role of Charles Bukowski when the show re-opens on the mainstage this fall.
So...the reviews continue to roll in. And just as I said last week, although this review is simply stellar (and I acquire yet another set of adjectives), we don't live or die by the reviews. Having said that, this will put some people in the seats...Backstage West gave us the highest rating they give: CRITIC'S PICK.
