I had a meeting last night with Dean Cameron, the director of Bukowsical!, and it reminded me of the rare occasions when I'd be working at a radio station, they'd change formats, and replace me as the morning show host.
As someone who casts actors from time to time, and sometimes have to recast if an actor fails to perform or someone better becomes available, I know how hard it is to break that kind of news to a friend, a fellow actor and someone who's worked hard for me.
Dean had to do that yesterday. He let me know that I'm not going to be continuing in the role of Charles Bukowski when the show re-opens on the mainstage this fall.
