Doing the residual math - an explanation

Math is hard, but this isn't so much. I just did a video that you can watch that does a fairly complete job of explaining the differences between the current system of residuals for linear TV, and what we face in the world of online video to attempt to replicate that residual system.

"But I thought..." Hey, you thought wrong.

And so it begins.

I actually love to say "I told you so." For that moment, there is an immense amount of satisfaction in being right, in particular, about how to make money with the Internet - which then gives way to sadness when my admonitions actually come true.

The danger of fairy tales

There are a couple of sites that cover the embarrassing SAG infighting, one of which is The SAGWatch Blog. A recent post on this site, which covered the unbelievable move by SAG's Alan Rosenberg to use the courts to get his way, generated a typical hard-liner comment, and it's sad to read.

It's even more sad to realize the pain in what the commenter, LA, is really trying to say:
