New postcard goes out - we're in at Cannes!
Time to send out a new postcard to the casting directors on my list: we've been officially notified that we're a selection in the Festval de Cannes. That's the world-famous, really important, Nicholson-goes-there-to-ogle-the-women Cannes Film Festival.
And, again, I'm not going.
Do you have any idea how expensive it is to go to Nice or Cannes this time of year?
Oh, my god.
I priced out the airfare, and the best I could do, flying through Cincinnati of all places was around $1400. Then, it's not like they're going to lower the room rates in and around Cannes - crappy little rooms where the people who run the hotels boast that they really, really hate Americans, are going for $500-800 a night. Nothing's available in Cannes itself, so ya gotta stay in Nice, so that's a $30 train ride each day for 45 minutes to and from Cannes.
Nah I'll pass. Anyone I meet there I can meet here. And my agent is going, so I'm cool.
Some people have said, "What, are you crazy? When will you ever get a chance like this again??"
I think to myself, "I plan on having lots of reasons to go."
But it is waaaay cool to be in Cannes. If you're going, we're in the Short Film Corner. Call up the movie on one of the kiosks while you're there and give a view!

Wicked good postcard. I want a movie poster! It would garner a spot next to my sacred StarWars poster.
Keep up the great work.
