Coming soon: The Secrets of Screen Acting Podcast
I'm very excited to be the presenter of a new premium podcast, powered by ShowTaxi.com, with world renowned author and BBC television and film director Patrick Tucker. It's called The Secrets of Screen Acting Podcast, and it makes it's debut on May 21, 2007.
If you haven't yet read Patrick's book of the same name, you're missing out on what is arguably the most insightful guide to real-world, on-camera job skills. He can, in five minutes, arm you with any number of potentially career-changing techniques.
His book literally changed my outlook on on-camera acting. Tucker busts myths like "acting smaller" for the lens as opposed to the stage audience. He clearly explains how certain shots are achieved, and how you as an actor can become indispensible (and sought after for re-hire) in helping the director get the shot he needs.
I had Patrick on my show one night, and became convinced that his deep knowledge of not only how actors can enhance their careers and "castability", but also how to explain it to us, was the stuff of which premium podcasts are made. He's directed hundreds of television episodes for the BBC, dozens of feature films, taught at dramatic academies and schools all over the world, and his books are standard issue in many acting classes and with many consultants worldwide. This man knows his stuff.
So, unlike other podcasts, which are free, this podcast costs $10 per month. You get a quick, easy to understand and highly digestible 5 minutes with Patrick every weekday where he fully explains one tool in your toolbox, one facet of your career, one strategy for headshots and resumes or one case in history that illustrates exactly how day to day working sets function, and you can write in and ask questions for him to respond to as well.
$10 a month works out to less than 50 cents per weekday episode, and that's an amazing value for the money. The link isn't up yet to subscribe because we haven't put up our first episode yet. But we will very soon: mark your calendars for May 21st.
